Help Us Win SeedMoney Funding to Build a Community Farm in Namibia!
Farm to Empower has been selected to compete in SeedMoney’s 2024 campaign, and we need your help! This isn’t just about donations—it’s a friendly competition among nonprofits, with grants awarded based on how much we raise compared to others. The campaign runs from November 15 to December 15, and every dollar we raise brings us closer to funding a sustainable community farm in Northern Namibia. This farm will supply produce to the three local primary schools.
Your Support Makes an Impact: Each contribution helps us secure more grant funding, which means essential resources for creating fresh food supplies, economic opportunities for local women, and long-term sustainability for the region. Every dollar moves us up in the rankings and brings Gerson's vision of a community farm one step closer to reality.
How You Can Help: Donate to our SeedMoney campaign, spread the word, and follow us for progress updates. Together, we can make a transformative impact on this community’s future.

Namibia is currently facing an unprecedented climatic challenge with the worst drought in 100 years. Rainfall has been so scarce that on May 22 2024, the Namibian President declared a national state of emergency. This extreme drought has severely affected surface and groundwater resources, making them increasingly unreliable. The impact on food security is profound, as water scarcity limits agricultural productivity and exacerbates malnutrition risks, particularly among vulnerable populations like children.
The health and hygiene of communities are also compromised due to limited water availability, affecting daily living conditions and increasing the susceptibility to diseases. This situation underlines the urgent need for innovative solutions to ensure sustainable water use and agricultural practices.
We propose a visionary initiative to establish a sustainable community farm in Northern Namibia. This project will be a Demonstration farm using Conservation Agriculture methods creating a small scale, high yield farm.
This “demo farm” will focus on training women in Conservation Agriculture, ensuring food security to the areas 3 primary schools, create economic opportunities, and leadership development among women, securing a prosperous future for generations to come.
Gerson Muzuma is a member of the Herero tribe. He volunteers as the Head ranger for the Kunene Elephant Walk in Northern Namibia, a local non profit that is dedicated to deterring human-animal conflict. Gerson spends days in the bush teaching locals humane methods to protect elephants. Beyond his conservation efforts, Gerson envisions using his land to create a sustainable farm that will serve as a hub for his community. He hopes this farm will secure a future for his wife and daughter, and uplift the women of the area by providing them with opportunities in agriculture.
